The brake systems on the old Z cars almost always need some repair and replacement after years of setting. Always inspect brake hoses for cracking and be aware that these hoses can break down from the inside as well as the outside. Rear wheel cylinders are a common part to fail on these cars. Rear wheel cylinders will usually leak fluid (look for wet spots on your inner wheel or under your tire) or cause the wheel to start locking up. Remember to install new drum brake hardware when changing wheel cylinder or shoes. We have had this hardware break right after installing new shoes and drums and the broken metal springs ruin your new shoes and drum surface.
